For a business selling packaged goods to customers in Czechia, packaging EPR starts with reliable source data: company details, packaging materials and weights, and actual Czech sales or dispatch records. The client or its logistics partner supplies these records to Kodo. Under the agreed authorised-representative arrangement, Kodo processes them, calculates the quarterly packaging figures and submits the report to EKO-KOM.
Kodo has a client document portal for this work. A client can upload source files there, or we can arrange a connection that sends agreed records from its e-shop, accounting system, ERP or logistics partner to Kodo. The connection concerns data supplied to Kodo; it does not send the client's report directly to EKO-KOM.
Start with one place for the documents
After access is arranged, the portal gives the client a defined place to send documents to Kodo and receive our questions or prepared files. These may include company details for onboarding, packaging specifications, a catalogue of materials and weights, and the sales or dispatch records used for Czech reporting.
Kodo checks the incoming records throughout the quarter. A missing weight or an unexplained difference in order totals becomes a question for the client against the relevant source document, rather than disappearing into a long email chain. Access to files is set according to each participant's role and the clients they work with.
Kodo's client document portal and the files uploaded to it are hosted on our Hetzner VPS in Germany, within the EU. For a direct connection to another system, we agree the data flow and access permissions as part of that integration.
You can request client registration free of charge. We confirm access and the document requirements for your particular sales model before work begins.
When regular uploads are too much work
An e-shop, accounting system or ERP may already contain the order and product data needed for recurring calculations. Where the system and data are suitable, Kodo can assess an API connection that sends agreed source records to Kodo at regular intervals. We process those records during the quarter, while keeping a record of what was received and when.
For example, a system might provide Czech orders and product identifiers throughout the quarter. A packaging catalogue can link those identifiers to the relevant packaging components, materials and unit weights. The result is a calculation that can be checked against the source records, rather than a number copied from a spreadsheet without context.
Every connection needs a defined data format, access permissions and a test with real examples. It is configured for the client's system and the agreed scope of work. If an API connection is unnecessary, the portal remains a straightforward way to provide the same source files manually. Our Czech e-commerce data automation page explains the wider workflow.
From incoming data to Kodo's quarterly submission
Kodo maps the incoming records to the packaging catalogue, calculates quantities and flags missing or inconsistent information. Packaging can change, orders can be cancelled or returned, and the producer for each packaging flow must be identified correctly. We ask the producer to confirm the completeness and accuracy of its source data and resolve discrepancies with us. After the quarter ends, Kodo reconciles the final figures, completes the applicable EKO-KOM form and sends the report under the agreed representative arrangement. The client does not need to send that report separately.
EKO-KOM's quarterly report concerns packaging placed on the Czech market during the completed calendar quarter. Kodo therefore needs the client's reliable records of actual Czech activity, not only an estimate made at registration. Our guide to packaging data and quarterly reporting explains the information to collect; EKO-KOM publishes the current report and instructions.
Reporting and invoices have a clear recipient
For a producer represented by Kodo under the applicable EKO-KOM agreement, EKO-KOM sends the reporting request and the annual and report-based invoices to Kodo as the authorised representative. We receive and handle those invoices; how the charges are funded and billed onward is set out in our service agreement. The producer still has to supply accurate source data; the EKO-KOM agreement makes the producer and representative jointly responsible for contractual performance. EKO-KOM explains the representative's reporting and invoicing role.
Choose the route that fits your business
For a smaller seller, the simplest starting point may be a clear packaging catalogue and a quarterly file uploaded through the portal. For a business processing many orders, a tailored API connection may save repeated export and upload work. Both routes lead to the same workflow: the client supplies data to Kodo, we check and calculate it, the producer confirms the source data, and Kodo submits the quarterly report to EKO-KOM under the agreed representative arrangement.

Frequently asked questions
What information do we send to Kodo?
Send the agreed company details, packaging materials and unit weights, and records of actual Czech orders or dispatches. A logistics partner can supply dispatch data if the records identify the correct producer. Kodo checks the format and tells you which information is missing.
Do we submit the quarterly EKO-KOM report ourselves?
Under a written appointment and the applicable producer-specific EKO-KOM agreement, Kodo prepares and sends the report. You supply complete, accurate source data and confirm any corrections or unclear packaging facts before submission.
Does the API send our data directly to EKO-KOM?
No. An agreed integration sends source records from your system to Kodo for processing. Kodo calculates the packaging quantities and handles the EKO-KOM submission under the representative arrangement. An API connection is assessed and configured separately for each client.
Can Kodo calculate the figures during the quarter?
Yes. If we receive records regularly, we can map packaging, calculate provisional totals and flag missing or inconsistent data as it appears. The formal report uses actual records for the completed quarter and is sent after that quarter ends. EKO-KOM publishes the current reporting periods and deadlines.
Who receives EKO-KOM invoices?
For a producer represented by Kodo under the applicable EKO-KOM agreement, EKO-KOM sends the annual-fee invoice and invoices based on submitted reports to Kodo as the authorised representative. Our service agreement sets out how those charges are funded and billed onward. See EKO-KOM's representative procedure.
Is a free client-area registration the same as EPR registration?
No. Requesting access to the Kodo client area is free, but it does not register your company with EKO-KOM or appoint Kodo as your representative. Those steps require a separate written arrangement and producer-specific onboarding.
