03 / Keep the evidence
What data do you need for Czech packaging EPR reports?
An EPR number does not tell you how many kilograms of cardboard, plastic or other materials actually reached Czech customers. Reliable reporting begins with a packaging catalogue connected to real deliveries.
01
Build a packaging catalogue before counting parcels
For each product or packing variant, identify the components: retail pack, grouped packaging, shipping box, protective filling, tape and any other relevant part. Record their material, category and unit weight. Reusable packaging, exports and special categories may need distinct treatment under the current EKO-KOM reporting method.
A catalogue is a practical working model, not a prescribed spreadsheet template. Supplier specifications can help establish weights; sample weighing and versioned records are useful when packaging changes. The product's weight is not the packaging weight. A mixed-material pack should not simply be labelled 'cardboard' because cardboard is the largest visible part.
02
Connect the catalogue to actual Czech deliveries
After a calendar quarter ends, extract actual fulfilled Czech orders or shipments from the shop, warehouse or ERP. Keep a way to distinguish cancelled orders, packaging variants and changes during the period. For each component, multiply the count actually used by its unit weight, then aggregate the results in the categories required by the current EKO-KOM report.
For example, 500 Czech parcels using one 200 g cardboard shipping box each account for 100 kg of those boxes. Filling, tape and product packaging are separate lines of work. The example illustrates the arithmetic only; it does not establish a fee category or total EPR charge.
03
Keep a traceable review file
A final kilogram total without an audit trail is hard to verify. Retain the original order export, the catalogue version used, weight evidence, a calculation file, explanations for differences and the producer's confirmation that the source data is complete. Compare the Czech shipment count with sales or dispatch records before submission.
Kodo can build this repeatable process and, under a producer-specific representative agreement, prepare and send the quarterly report. The producer remains the source of accurate sales and packaging data. We do not need customers' names and street addresses simply to calculate packaging weight.
04
Timing and pricing are separate questions
EKO-KOM quarterly reports describe packaging actually placed on the market or put into circulation in the completed quarter. Its published dates are 30 April, 30 July, 30 October and 30 January for the preceding quarters respectively. Check the current form and agreement for the applicable reporting categories and terms.
A preliminary cost estimate may use forecast volumes, but it is not a substitute for the actual quarter's report. Without the packaging categories, weights and quantities, a single reliable fee figure cannot be quoted. Administrative and representation fees should be shown separately from EKO-KOM charges in a commercial proposal.
An important distinction
The most expensive mistake is often not a missing total but an untraceable one. A small, versioned packaging catalogue and a reviewable Czech-order export make future corrections and audits much easier.
