Packaging obligations in Czechia
If your company supplies packaged products to Czech customers, local registration, representation or reporting may be part of your market entry. Kodo helps you map the practical steps, prepare the data and coordinate the Czech specialists involved.
Before the first Czech shipment
Start with the sales model
A foreign address alone does not determine the outcome. We need to understand who first makes the packaged product available in Czechia, who the end user is and which local parties take part in the sale.
This is why our first step is a practical EPR check rather than a generic registration package.
Does this affect your business?
You sell packaged products through your own e-shop, a marketplace or distance contracts and deliver them to end users in Czechia.
A local importer, distributor, fulfilment partner or Czech entity is involved. The sales chain determines who carries each obligation.
Your products, parcels and transport packaging use different materials and weights that need a reliable data trail.
A sensible way to start
You can begin with one focused review. A broader setup follows only when your sales model and responsibilities are clear.
A focused review of your sales model and the practical questions that should be resolved before registration or launch.
We prepare the information and coordinate the Czech organisations and qualified specialists needed for your setup.
A practical process for turning Czech sales and packaging information into reviewable reporting data.
Kodo's practical contribution
Registration is only the beginning. Each SKU can have a product pack, grouped packaging and transport packaging with different materials and weights. We help create a usable packaging catalogue and connect it to Czech order data.
A coordinated process
We clarify who sells, imports, stores, unpacks and delivers the product to the Czech end user.
We separate practical preparation from questions that require a Czech legal, EPR or product specialist.
We organise company information, product categories, packaging composition, weights and Czech sales data.
We connect the client, the appropriate Czech representative or specialist and the relevant registration process.
We prepare a reporting calendar, review steps and a data process that can continue after the initial registration.
Clear responsibilities
The project, information flow, packaging data, technical setup and communication between your team and the Czech specialists involved.
Kodo is not a law firm, producer responsibility organisation or authorised EPR representative. Formal advice and representation stay with the qualified provider you appoint.
Packaging EPR does not replace product-safety, customs, VAT, battery, electrical equipment, chemical or other sector-specific requirements.
Current regulatory framework
Regulation (EU) 2025/40 generally applies from 12 August 2026. It introduces EU-wide packaging requirements alongside producer registration and extended producer responsibility. The exact duties still depend on the sales chain, national implementation and the company's role.
We confirm the project scope against current information and do not rely on a one-size-fits-all checklist.
Common questions
Not automatically. The answer depends on where the company is established, who first makes the packaged product available in Czechia, whether the buyer is an end user, and whether a distributor, marketplace or Czech entity is involved. We first map the sales chain and involve a qualified specialist when a formal legal conclusion is needed.
No. A final user can also be a business that does not make the supplied product available on the market again in the form in which it received it. B2B deliveries therefore need to be considered too.
No. Kodo coordinates the project, prepares data and connects you with an appropriate Czech provider or qualified specialist. The authorised representative and other responsible parties remain separate contractual entities.
No. Packaging EPR is separate from product safety, customs, VAT, chemical, electrical equipment, battery and sector-specific requirements. We flag connected areas and coordinate the right specialist where useful.
Yes, where the source data is suitable. We can map packaging to SKUs, select Czech orders and prepare reviewable quarterly totals. The client and the legally responsible party still confirm the accuracy of the underlying data and reports.
Not yet. The scope depends on the sales model, number of SKUs, quality of packaging data and the specialists required. After a short initial review, we provide a written proposal and list external fees separately.
A short description of your company, products and Czech sales route is enough for a first conversation. We will suggest what should be checked before the next step.
