Packaging weight and dimensions
We examine where lighter or better-sized packaging could reduce material use, purchase costs and EPR contributions. Maintaining product protection is part of the assessment.
For manufacturers, distributors and retail chains
Find out which packaging costs you the most and which changes would pay off for your business. We bring together packaging data, EPR contributions, purchase prices and related logistics in a practical savings plan.
For businesses handling large packaging volumes, broad product ranges or complex production and distribution. We assess individual products as well as the packing and transport processes they share.
Model example
Annual spending on packaging, EPR and related logistics: CZK 3,000,000.
Lighter packaging, more efficient packing or better pallet utilisation can have a substantial financial impact at scale. We identify the options worth calculating for your business.
Illustrative scenario. Achievable savings and the cost of changes will be established from your data.
We examine where lighter or better-sized packaging could reduce material use, purchase costs and EPR contributions. Maintaining product protection is part of the assessment.
We compare alternative materials, individual components and unnecessary layers, considering packaging prices, applicable rates and technical requirements.
We assess product grouping, carton and pallet utilisation, void fill and load securing. We calculate the potential effect on packaging consumption, shipment numbers and handling costs.
For crates, pallets and IBCs, we compare actual reuse cycles, return rates, losses, cleaning and return transport. The result must make sense over the whole cycle.
We check weights, units, material classification, duplicates and documented flows between countries. Corrections to records are distinguished from savings achieved by changing packaging.
We identify repetitive manual work in collecting specifications, matching products and preparing reports. We propose where consistent data or an agreed system connection could help.
The comparison covers packaging purchases, EPR contributions, related transport, handling and other costs affected by the change. Any one-off investment is shown separately, so you can judge whether the change pays off and when it could recover its cost.
01
Documented quantities, prices and working methods.
02
Comparable production or sales volumes and a specific change.
03
Expected net benefit, investment and calculation assumptions.
EPR calculations relate to a specific country, period and documented packaging flow. A different transport route does not by itself reduce an EPR fee; cross-border options require an assessment of the markets involved.
01
We agree the company, market, period and product group. We can start with one site or the most costly packaging.
02
We connect available quantities, specifications, prices and fees, identify missing information and highlight the items with the greatest impact.
03
We develop specific changes, including investment, running costs, assumptions and the technical checks required.
04
You receive prioritised measures, a calculation of net benefit and payback. Implementation and measurement of the results can be agreed separately.
Packaging specifications, bills of materials, weight measurements, purchase prices, sales, consumption, stock movements and previous reports. Depending on the scope, we also include packing methods, transport costs and the circulation of returnable packaging.
We can start with exports and existing documents. API connections are agreed to suit your business. We assess the technical suitability of changes with your staff and suppliers, including any necessary trials.
Kodo is registered with EKO-KOM as an authorised representative of foreign producers for packaging EPR in Czechia. We can build on data checks and calculations to analyse their cost implications. Documents, supporting data and communication for the agreed work are kept together in the client portal.
The analysis can be commissioned on its own or as an extension of our work together. We agree its scope and price before starting, based on product numbers, packaging variants, countries, data availability and the depth of comparison required. The analysis is priced separately from the basic representation fee.
You can commission the analysis separately even if registration and reporting are already covered. Representation, regular reporting and implementation are agreed according to what you need.
It is a useful starting point for identifying the most costly items. To calculate net savings, we generally also need purchase prices, packing methods, logistics costs and technical constraints. If we already process your information, we build on it.
With illustrative annual costs of CZK 3 million, a 5% reduction represents CZK 150,000 and a 10% reduction CZK 300,000 per year. The achievable potential for your company depends on its data and feasible changes. We show the costs, assumptions and payback for each measure.
The total cost and the packaging’s function matter. The comparison also includes handling, transport, product damage, any cleaning and other related costs. We assess technical suitability and necessary trials with your responsible staff and suppliers.
Tell us which products you sell, which markets you serve and what data you already have. Together, we will define an initial group of packaging and prepare a proposal for the analysis.
