Kodo now offers Czech WEEE support alongside packaging EPR, with battery work included in the agreed scope where relevant. Your company can organise the records, documents and reporting steps for all three areas in one client portal.
A rechargeable speaker sold to a customer in Czechia arrives with more than a delivery label. There is the speaker itself, the battery inside it, the retail packaging and the materials used to ship it. Each can require different information for extended producer responsibility, usually shortened to EPR.
For a seller, these records often start in different places: product specifications from a supplier, packaging weights from a warehouse and sales exports from an e-shop. Bringing them together is part of making Czech reporting manageable.
We have added Czech WEEE support to Kodo’s offer and expanded the client portal to organise electrical equipment and batteries alongside packaging. You work with one local contact, while each area keeps the information, appointments and reporting arrangements it needs.
One product can involve three areas of EPR
WEEE means waste electrical and electronic equipment. The work concerns the responsibility for equipment placed on the market, including the applicable registration, reporting and arrangements for its treatment at the end of its life. The EU’s WEEE guidance for businesses explains the underlying responsibilities.
Packaging and batteries need their own attention. A battery built into a device is still relevant when assessing battery obligations. Batteries also have their own EU regulatory framework, described in the European Commission’s battery overview.
For the rechargeable speaker example, the practical records look like this:
| Area | What needs to be identified | What you organise with Kodo |
|---|---|---|
| Packaging EPR | Retail and shipping packaging, materials and weights | Packaging records linked to actual Czech deliveries and quarterly reporting |
| WEEE | Device model, function, category and documented equipment weight | Equipment catalogue, agreed registration and reporting steps |
| Batteries | Battery type, chemistry, quantity and documented weight | Separate battery assessment, records and the applicable reporting arrangements |
The same Czech sales export can support more than one calculation. The product, battery and packaging data still need to be distinguished. The weight of a packed parcel, for example, does not tell us the reportable weight of the electrical equipment.
What you can manage in the Kodo Portal
The portal gives your team a place to provide information, review the work and ask questions against the relevant case. Kodo enables the working areas agreed for your company, so your existing packaging workspace can be extended with WEEE and battery work.
A shared company profile
For the same organisation, company details are shared between packaging EPR and WEEE. You can review your legal name, registered address, identifiers, contacts and authorised signatory without creating a second company record for the new service.
Where available, a company lookup can help fill in the form. You check the returned details, complete anything missing and save the profile. This helps with data entry; the written appointment and registration remain separate steps.
Product records that match your sales data
In the WEEE area, you can provide the devices you sell, using the SKU from your sales records and the model that identifies the physical product. Technical information, documented weights, battery details and the contents of kits help Kodo check the classification.
If a supplier has not provided a weight, leave it unknown and tell us what is missing. Kodo can clarify the evidence needed before the reporting figures are prepared. Recording a missing value as zero would hide the question that still needs resolving.
Documents and conversations kept with the case
You can upload specifications, catalogues and sales records, link the relevant documents to the work and exchange messages with Kodo. Where a form offers it, an existing file stored for your company can be selected again without uploading another copy.
This keeps a question about a model or reporting period close to the records needed to answer it. Your colleague can return to the case and see the supporting information, subject to their access permissions.
Reporting periods and the next step
The WEEE workspace separates the reporting period, the source records and the summary prepared for review. You can follow requests for missing information and confirm the specific summary version that Kodo has prepared.
Packaging reports follow the quarterly process. Equipment and battery reporting follows the arrangements agreed with the relevant scheme; it should not simply inherit the packaging schedule. Kodo confirms the frequency and your data deadlines during setup.
From your records to a documented report
For WEEE and battery reporting, the portal supports a clear sequence:
- Provide the records. Supply the relevant product information and Czech sales data for the agreed period.
- Resolve questions with Kodo. We review the inputs and request any missing or inconsistent information.
- Review the summary. Check and confirm the exact version prepared for the report.
- Kodo handles the agreed submission. Once the necessary appointment and setup are in place, we file with the relevant scheme outside the portal and keep evidence of submission and acceptance with the case.
An uploaded spreadsheet is a source record. The completed reporting step is identified by its status and supporting evidence. If a correction is needed later, it is handled with a link to the original period and filing.
You remain responsible for supplying complete, accurate information and signing the required documents. Kodo manages the agreed administration and reporting. The selected compliance scheme provides its collective arrangements, including collection and treatment under the applicable agreement.
You can start with the records you already have
You do not need to rebuild every catalogue before contacting us. Start with your website, product range, Czech sales route and any existing registrations. Tell us whether batteries are built into the products, included in the package or sold separately.
For the next stage, the WEEE help area offers working XLSX templates for devices, batteries and reporting periods, currently in Czech and English. Suitable existing XLSX or CSV exports can also be reviewed with Kodo. These are working records for preparing the case; the format and any substantial manual preparation are agreed individually.
For a company already using Kodo for packaging EPR, the next step is to ask us to review the electrical products and extend the service where appropriate. We agree the additional scope, setup and reporting arrangements before activating the working area. Your proposal separates Kodo’s service fees from external scheme fees and recycling contributions.
Practical help before you commit
General FAQs and guides are available after signing in to the portal, including 24 WEEE questions in Czech, English, German and Polish. They cover product records, batteries, reporting periods, corrections, responsibilities and the difference between creating an account and completing registration.
You can create a free account and continue to the English WEEE guide. Registration is free and non-binding. Access to your company’s working areas is approved separately, and representation begins after the written appointment and applicable setup.
The main conclusion
If you sell electrical products into Czechia, bring the equipment, battery and packaging information into the discussion together. Kodo can coordinate the agreed Czech EPR work through one contact and one client workspace, with a clear record of what your team needs to provide and what happens next.
Frequently asked questions
Can we use Kodo for packaging, electrical equipment and batteries together?
Yes. Kodo offers a combined scope where relevant to your products and Czech sales. Company information can be shared in the portal, while the appointments, product records, reports and external charges for each area remain distinct. We confirm the scope in your proposal.
Does our packaging registration already cover WEEE?
No. Kodo is registered with EKO-KOM as an authorised representative for packaging EPR. Electrical equipment and batteries require their own assessment and applicable arrangements. Adding WEEE begins with a review of your products, sales route and existing registrations.
What if our devices have small built-in batteries?
Include them in the product information even if you do not sell batteries separately. We review their type, chemistry, quantity and documented weight. Straightforward portable batteries can be considered within the relevant combined service; other categories and complex products need an individual assessment.
Do we have to prepare every file in a Kodo template?
You can provide suitable existing catalogues, technical documents and XLSX or CSV sales exports. Kodo first reviews whether the records contain the information needed. Templates can help fill gaps; additional manual restructuring or an integration is agreed separately.
Does uploading our sales spreadsheet complete the report?
No. The records go through review, any questions are resolved and you confirm the exact reporting summary. Under the agreed appointment and completed setup, Kodo handles the submission to the relevant scheme and records the filing evidence.
Is the portal account free, and does it commit us to a service?
Creating an account is free and non-binding. You can read the general FAQs and guides after signing in. Paid work, access to company working areas and the appointment of Kodo as your representative are separate steps agreed with you.
