Poland exported USD 365.58 million of furniture and parts in HS 9403 to Czechia in 2025, up 11.3% by value from 2024. A manufacturer can use that trade flow as a starting point and test its own prospects with one product range, one sales channel and one delivery plan.
A Czech retailer can like a cabinet in the showroom and still hesitate to place an order. The price has to work after delivery, and someone needs to send a replacement if a panel arrives damaged. For a Polish manufacturer, the first market test is a small order that answers those questions and gives the buyer a reason to reorder.
What Poland exports to Czechia
UN Comtrade’s HS 9403 heading covers other furniture and its parts, including categories such as office and kitchen furniture. Seating and mattresses fall under separate headings. The table uses the same product scope for both years and both destinations.
| Polish exports in HS 9403 | 2024 | 2025 |
|---|---|---|
| To all destinations | USD 7,124.61m | USD 7,665.74m |
| To Czechia | USD 328.49m | USD 365.58m |
| Czechia’s share of the world total | 4.61% | 4.77% |

The value shipped to Czechia increased by approximately 11.3%, compared with 7.6% for the category’s worldwide export value. Czechia’s share rose slightly.
Changes in prices, exchange rates and the mix of goods can all affect the dollar value. Since the heading includes parts as well as finished furniture, use the relevant product subheading to size your own segment. For wooden office furniture, for example, start with HS 940330 and then look at the price and delivery terms offered by Czech retailers serving your target buyer. ITC Trade Map by product
Production scale is a separate measure
Eurostat’s structural business statistics give a view of furniture manufacturing, NACE C31:
| Furniture manufacturing, 2024 | Poland | Czechia |
|---|---|---|
| Enterprises | 24,986 | 4,898 |
| Persons employed | 188,551 | 21,031 |
| Net turnover | EUR 15.66bn | EUR 1.96bn |

Poland has a larger manufacturing base on all three measures. Czech manufacturers are also part of the market you will enter, either as competitors or as potential partners for projects, complementary products and installation.

Choose the channel before preparing the offer
A distributor or furniture retailer
This route requires a product range the partner can explain, display and sell. Prepare usable product information, finish samples where appropriate, commercial terms and a dependable ordering process.
Discuss who holds stock, who carries the risk of a slow-selling range and how replacement parts are ordered. Clarify the difference between a partner that introduces customers and one that takes responsibility for the retail sale and after-sales service.
Before discussing exclusivity, establish what the partner will commit to and how performance will be reviewed. A broad territory promise is difficult to evaluate without a defined range, channel and service role.
Contract and project sales
An office fit-out contractor, a hotel operator and a developer can all buy furniture, but they are likely to ask for different references. Choose a segment where you can show an installation of similar scope.
A project offer needs dimensions, materials, finishes, quantities, lead times and a clear boundary between manufacture, delivery and installation. Relevant references should explain what was delivered and which constraints were handled.
For fitted or bespoke work, agree who confirms measurements and approves drawings. A drawing that looks complete to the manufacturer may still leave site conditions or installation responsibilities unresolved. Product-specific safety, documentation and other technical requirements need their own review.
Direct online sales
This gives the manufacturer a direct relationship with the Czech customer. It also places customer communication, delivery questions and after-sales coordination into the manufacturer’s process.
Before spending on traffic, make sure the customer can see which variants are available, what delivery and assembly include, and who handles a damaged or missing part. Confirm the applicable consumer, product and packaging obligations for the actual sales arrangement with qualified specialists.
A selected range with a tested delivery process is a more informative first launch than an entire catalogue with unresolved fulfilment details.
Build the offer around the delivered result
The factory price is only one part of the commercial calculation. Work out what it will cost to serve the selected Czech channel.
| Part of the offer | Question to resolve |
|---|---|
| Product | Which models, finishes and dimensions will the first test include? |
| Information | Are drawings, specifications, photos and ordering references consistent? |
| Delivery | Does the quote include transport, unloading, carrying inside or installation? |
| After-sales work | Who answers the customer and supplies a missing or damaged part? |
| Channel economics | Which commissions, discounts, stock commitments and marketing costs apply? |
| Margin | Does the offer remain viable after the full delivery and service cost? |
Suppose a Polish manufacturer offers six compact office cabinets to a Czech retailer for EUR 150 each before VAT, delivered to one address. Production and packing cost EUR 100 per cabinet, consolidated delivery costs EUR 15, and the supplier budgets EUR 12 for service and replacements. That leaves EUR 23 per cabinet, or EUR 138 for the order, before overheads. If a separate delivery adds EUR 90 beyond that budget, the order leaves just EUR 48, or EUR 8 per cabinet. Use your own freight quotes to see whether one delivery to a retailer’s warehouse, a larger minimum order or a separately priced service can support the contribution you need.
What a Czech-facing product page should contain
Use the page to answer the questions that otherwise delay the enquiry. Start with the intended application and the available product range. Add specifications, dimensions, materials, finishes and relevant examples.
Explain how the customer obtains a price and what information is needed. For project work, a useful enquiry may include quantities, drawings, site location and the required delivery period. For a retailer, it may include the selected range and expected ordering pattern.
The page should also describe delivery and support in terms that match the actual operation. Avoid a local-service promise until the team or partner responsible for it is in place.
Translation is part of this work. The larger task is preparing an offer a Czech buyer can understand, compare and act on.
A practical first market test
- Pick one channel and a small range. For the office cabinets, start with a few Czech retailers that already sell storage furniture in the intended price range.
- Prepare an offer the buyer can assess. Send dimensions, finish options, packed size, opening order quantity, delivery terms and a named contact for replacement parts.
- Agree what a successful trial looks like. Set the delivery date, the minimum contribution after freight and service, and who will handle stock and replacements. Give the retailer a parts list and ask them to walk through a damaged-panel request with your team.
- Ask for a reorder on the same terms. Record the actual lead time, freight and service costs, and any replacement requests. A buyer willing to reorder at a price that clears your contribution target gives you a basis for approaching more retailers. If the trial depended on an exceptional freight rate or a one-off discount, reprice the next order and check whether the buyer is still interested.
Questions about the furniture figures and market test
Do the export figures cover every type of furniture?
No. The table covers HS 9403 only. Other furniture-related goods can fall under different headings. Use the classification of the actual product when researching its market, rather than applying this total to the whole sector.
Does export growth mean a new manufacturer will sell easily in Czechia?
No. It shows the recorded value of an established trade flow. A new supplier still needs a suitable range, a defined channel, qualified buyers and a credible delivery and support arrangement.
Should a Polish manufacturer give a distributor exclusivity immediately?
Assess the partner’s actual role and commitments first. Product scope, territory, performance, service and the review process should be clear. A qualified legal adviser should review the proposed agreement.
